A source of immense pride for our Chair!

It is with great pride that we announce Dr. France Légaré’s induction into the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) Class of 2026—one of the highest honors bestowed upon researchers in the country.

A full professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine at Université Laval, a researcher at VITAM – Centre de recherche en santé durable (CHU de Québec-Université Laval), and holder of the Canada Research Chair in Shared Decision-Making and Knowledge Translation, Dr. Légaré is globally recognized for her pioneering work on shared decision-making. Her research has helped transform how people participate in choices regarding their own health, both here and around the world.

This recognition by the RSC highlights the exceptional and lasting impact of her work on the advancement of knowledge, as well as her contribution to Canadian society.

Beyond this distinction, it is her human-centered leadership that truly inspires: she is a genuine role model through her scientific excellence; her mentorship and training of the next generation—where her generosity in sharing knowledge has a tangible impact on career paths; and her talent for giving everyone the chance to contribute, try new things, and surpass themselves by uniting people from diverse backgrounds around a shared vision.
